New year, new levels....

First off I would like to apologise for my lack of updates & would like to wish all my clients & sponsor a very happy new year :-)
December was a month from hell with all the rain. For the first time ever we had to go on Limited T/O. So I’ve been none stop mucking out lol updates had to go on the back burner.

However even though it was a tough start to the year we have already made it out to our first 2013 competition. We ventured to the Field House on the 10th Jan with Sky Galante, he was making his debut at Elem.
Things didn’t go exactly to plan as we got given a very low score for Novice 22 all of us where extremely surprised I never got chance to talk to the judge as she left soon after the class, but I would of been interested to hear her view.
I guess these things happen in dressage & unfortunately very occasionally you do come across a judge who doesn’t get Spanish horses I have heard of it happening & have been subjected to it myself.
It's very easy as a rider to put every bad score down to a judges prejudice against a breed, this is something I really try never to do & I’m always looking to improve. But on this one occasion I’m left stumped as to the score & the sheet comments make the score even less understandable very confused.com.
I’ve taken it on the chin & will endeavor to gain a higher score from this judge if we ever end up in front of her again.

The Elem though went a lot better than expected, I will admit I was quite upset from the previous class as he had given the test his all.
So I was surprised when Galante actually came out on his toes for the second test. Quite un-expected!

We had a couple of mistakes one was the first transition from halt to trot we got halt to canter down the centre line, then we had a spooky moment after the first Medium Canter & he dropped to trot. He also got a tad tense during the 10mtr circles.
We finished on 61.47% & 3rd out of 5 very lovely huge moving WB's, I was very pleased with this as he did show his greenness at this level in the arena.

Galante does suffer with his nerves in the dressage arena & we know the only way to conquer this is to get him out more. This is going to be the big trend for 2013 & we have 2 more competitions lined up just in January alone.

Troy is going very well we had a schooling session just yesterday that left me feeling like I was riding a GP horse. He will very soon be making his debut at Adv Med level, it's so exciting after all we have been through, of course we will keep you updated.

Also keep a look out on the Pegasus Health website's blog as I’m told my latest review will be featuring on there. I have also heard there will be more competitions coming through 2013 so if you haven’t already go & like there Facebook page. www.pegasushealth.com

I will leave you with a slightly blurred w-up pic of Galante just starting his stretchy trot work.
